TERMS AND CONDITONS

Identity Course Terms and Conditions

Welcome to the Identity Course. This document is a Consent to Participation Form for enrolling in this course. Please read it carefully and feel free to ask any questions that might emerge. Please be advised that by participating in the Identity Course you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to the terms and conditions herein. Please be aware that covering everything that might require consent for the Identity Course in this form is impossible because consent is an ongoing process that each participant is expected to evaluate regularly.

Introduction to the Consent Form

In the Identity Course, participants and the course instructor enter into a teacher-student relationship, hoping the student will benefit from the course content. Consent is an integral part of the Identity Course experience, which allows participants to understand and agree with what’s occurring in the Identity Course. Consent occurs at the beginning of the course and throughout its duration. Throughout the Identity Course, participants should not hesitate to ask questions and seek clarification about anything within the course.

Professional Values in the Identity Course Process

The instructor of the Identity Course, Jake Khym, is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC). However, it is essential to note that the offerings of the Identity Course and its content ARE NOT therapy.

Jake believes the following aspects of course participation are important:

  • Commitment - Participants' commitment to attending the course teachings and heartily engaging in course exercises while remaining on pace with course content is important. Daily time and attention given to the Identity Course is ideal.

  • Prayer - God is the author of identity. Our regular connection with God, in prayer and Sacrament, is a primary means by which we will discover who we were designed to be.

  • Respect - When participants respectfully relate to one another and offer sensitivity to the sometimes vulnerable or honest experiences shared by others, a safe place for identity to develop and be discovered is provided.

Participants often experience and can expect various outcomes from the course, including greater self-awareness, an understanding of Christian identity, an improved sense of God-given identity, and deeper intrapersonal settledness.

Taking the Identity Course can cause distress and will require hard work. Participants are expected to manage their own emotional well-being and workload.

Identity Course Terms of Consent

The Identity Course is integrated into a broader curriculum of human formation and is, therefore, designed to be engaged within a particular order. The Identity Course is divided into

Part 1: Security, Part 2: Maturity, and Part 3: Purity. Each part will have three classes. The time between each part of the course allows participants extra room to complete exercises and integrate the content.

The following items and the rest of this form constitute the terms for participation in the Identity Course offered by Life Restoration Ministries. Anyone not in agreement with these terms and the rest of this form should not participate in the Identity Course.

  • Participants must be of legal age in their country of residence to enroll in the Identity Course.

  • Live Zoom teachings will occur once per week for the duration of each course section.

  • Participants can discontinue the course at any time and for any reason. However, Life Restoration Ministries does not guarantee a refund for the cost of the course. Refunds will be treated on a case-by-case basis.

  • Participants are strongly advised to invite a close friend, spouse, or someone who knows them well to register for the course too. It can be an immense blessing to have a companion throughout the course.

  • During live Zoom teachings, participants are expected to conduct themselves professionally. This includes refraining from vulgar or profane language, wearing modest clothing, respecting other course participants, and avoiding any disruption to the live Zoom teaching.

  • To help ensure an adequate understanding and integration of the course content, participants are asked to complete each part of the Identity Course sequentially.

  • Attention to the Lord and course content, time spent in prayer with the course content, and trust in God are critical factors to a fruitful experience. The work in the course is personal; outcomes cannot be guaranteed.

Limitations and Risks to Course Participation

There are limitations and potential risks to participating in the Identity Course. The course has exercises and homework that can evoke strong emotions and/or difficult memories. Participants are expected to have adequate emotional regulation capacities before enrolling in this course. Before, during, and after the course teachings and exercises, each participant is expected to assess, reevaluate, and adjust their engagement in the course content in light of their emotional, cognitive, social, and environmental situations.

Taking the Identity Course can affect the participant's self-awareness, worldview, and style of relating, all of which can affect other areas of his/her life. Expecting the Identity Course to address and/or solve every problem in a participant's life is unrealistic. Sometimes, going into various course exercises, such as memory work, surfaces more problems than it solves, although that is not the overall goal or intention.

Confidentiality & Personal Information

All conversations, Zoom recordings, and communications about the Identity Course are confidential and will not disclosed without consent. All participants must keep the content and stories of other participants completely confidential. If it is discovered that a course participant is failing to respect confidentiality, they will be removed from the course. There are usual

limitations to confidentiality, which include personal and public safety.

Emergency Situations

If a participant is experiencing life-threatening distress or an emergency, they should call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. Participants can also call the regional crisis line at 1-866- 661-3311. Life Restoration Ministries does not provide emergency mental health services; these services are generally provided by emergency room staff.

Cancellation Policies

If a participant cannot continue the Identity Course, he or she must notify Life Restoration Ministries as soon as possible. They can email info@liferestoration.ca. While participants reserve the right to discontinue the course at any time and for any reason, Life Restoration Ministries does not guarantee a refund for the course cost. Refunds will be treated on a case-by-case basis.
